Maternity from 6 to 12 months: will we choose it ourselves?

There are plans. We'll see what the implementation is. At the moment it is known that from 2013 the government plans to leave the woman a decision: either she will take a half-year leave of 100% or go on a longer vacation (up to a year), which will be paid on a part-time basis. In the case of annual leave, the parent is to receive 80% of the salary throughout its duration. Parents will be able to decide (not only the woman, but also the man who will be able to take part of the leave), how long the mother or father will look after the child. The choice is not to be presented between 6 and 12 months, but parents will be able to opt for eight-month or ten-month leave and any other within the maximum amount. Parents will receive a benefit proportional to the chosen period of leave.

At present, parents can take 24 weeks maternity leave: 20 weeks basic and 4 weeks additional. After 14 weeks, a woman can return to work and give the rest of the leave to her father. In addition, the father has 2 weeks of paternity leave, which only he can take. It is planned to extend this time to eight weeks.
